Freedom and control, liberty and submission, wild and tame. These pieces are an exploration of these concepts.

Upon returning to Singapore, and the very urban life and geography of the city, and leaving a mountain lifestyle of rural northern California, I knew that there would be certain challenges to my soul. What I did not know is that this would be a chance for my soul and Spirit to grow together.
Starting with a dream one night, I began to see foxes around me every day. This has persisted as a daily occurrence from March of 2010 to this day. Sometimes they are real foxes, but more often they are words, stickers on lunch boxes, characters in stories, names, cartoon characters, logos, and examples in lectures or sermons.
As I prayed and meditated and asked God what this could all mean, a very poignant theme arose. This was about wildness and tameness, liberty and control, autonomy and submission. I realized that this symbol was given for at least two reasons. First to help me cope with seeing so many straight lines and right angles and the rules that go along with them (city living – so different from the natural beauty I was used to). Second and more importantly, to develop my soul towards a place of submission to Him – to prepare me for the many kindnesses He has prepared under that condition.
I hope that this will be an on-going series.
